Teaching Truth, Shaping Character

PROGRAMS

Learning and Exploring

The Greenhouse Venture is built on a collaboration that includes Saint Louis University, Washington University, Harris-Stowe State University, St. Louis Community College and four elementary schools, including Tower Grove Christian Academy, forming a cohesive urban education partnership.

Each year, students are selected from TGCA's 4, 5, and 6 grade classrooms to participate in the once-weekly after school program.  The goal of the program is to educate, excite, and equip an inclusive population of elementary students to pursue a sustainable world through a hands-on program in bio-science and urban agriculture.

CURRICULUM

The purpose of Tower Grove Christian Academy (K-8) is to provide a sound academic education, integrating Biblical truths with the subject taught.  The academic requirements for each grade level are developed to meet the course of study prescribed by the Missouri State Department of Education, with emphasis on a high standard of achievement.

As a part of our Bible curriculum, we require scripture memorization and chapel attendance to encourage and reinforce the teaching of spiritual truth's and prayer. Parents are welcome to attend chapel services, which are held in the church sanctuary. Elementary & Preschool: Wednesdays 8:45-9:15 Middle School: Thursdays 11:00-11:45

Preschool and Daycare

Teaching the preschooler to love learning is the long term goal of the preschool.  Currently, we are using the ABeka curriculum.  We will provide each classroom with the tools necessary to attend to the cognitive social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development of the preschool child.  By emphasizing a center-based, hands on approach to learning, these materials will provide opportunities for each child to learn at his own developmental level and ability.  Motor skills, habits, listening, language, number and letter awareness and recognition, scientific investigation, and cultural knowledge are incorporated into the lessons.
